New Login System: More Secure & Flexible Access to DailyPlaylists

We’re Upgrading How You Log In

We’ve launched a new and improved login system for DailyPlaylists, and we want to walk you through exactly what’s changing, and why.

What’s New?

Until now, you had to use your Spotify account to log in to DailyPlaylists. While this did have its benefits, it limited your control, our technical capabilities and created some headaches if you ever had issues with Spotify (for example if Spotify was ever out, you’d be locked out of your account and purchased items).

Our new login system changes that:

⁠

✅ Create an account using email, Google, or Facebook
✅ Link your Spotify account afterward to access your account data
✅ Use password reset and account recovery 

How It’s Rolling Out

We’re rolling this out in 3 key phases to ensure a smooth deployment:

• Phase 1: New Users (Live X)
  All new users must sign up with email, Google, or Facebook. Spotify is still required to submit music, but no longer used for login for new sign ups. During this period current users can create an account and link their Spotify, however we advise to keep using the login with Spotify button.

• Phase 2: Existing Users (Optional Update)
  If you currently log in with Spotify, you’ll see the option to update your login. This lets you link your Spotify account to a new email-based login or social auth while keeping your playlists, credits, subscriptions, submissions, and stats.

• ⁠Phase 3: Full Migration (Coming Soon)
  Eventually, all users will be required to switch to the new login system. We will notify you by email and in-app when it’s time.

Why We’re Making This Change ⁠

• Reliability: Decoupling login from Spotify improves platform stability.

• Security: Email-based login enables password resets and better protection.

• Flexibility: You can now choose the login method that works best for you and manage your account better.
  
  

When Do I Need to Update?

If you're a current user, you can update your account through setting up an email or social authentication and linking your Spotify account to this login - its not currently necessary and you can maintain the Spotify login for the moment, however in the near future all users will have to migrate to this new login. 

Will I Lose Any Data?

No. Your submissions, credits, playlist placements, and history will remain fully intact. Transitioning to the new login system is secure and easy.
