Burna Boy – African Giant

Poised to go down as the greatest African artist of his generation, Nigerian musician Burna Boy just released his highly anticipated African Giant album. The originator of the “Afro-Fusion”
appellation comes forward with a blend of style, as he illustrated in an interview: afrobeats being the dough for his pizza, any ingredient he sprinkles on top can vary from dancehall to R&B, which creates a mix known as Afro-Fusion.

Burna, as fans affectionately refer to him, fittingly serves up a star-studded compilation with artists ranging from legendary African musician Angelique Kidjo, to Atlanta’s Future and R&B sensation Jorja Smith. Indeed, Burna Boy is an African Giant, which he goes to describe as any African with goals to do better for oneself and one’s origins. This rise comes as no surprise, as Burna has been active since 2011, spending years working on his craft and assembling increasingly entrancing dance tunes with a backbone of political commentary. Upon receiving this year’s BET Best International Act Award, his mother, whom manages Burna, affirmed on his behalf that “every black person should please remember that you were Africans before you became anything else.”

His last project was his 2018 mixtape entitled Outside, which featured timeless anthem “Ye.” Burna Boy has managed a significant commitment to crafting music, with five singles
making the cut for this album. The 19-track project includes singles “Anybody,” “Dangote,” “Killin Dem,” “Gbona,” and “On The Low” along with several instant hits.
